Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told the London Evening Standard that he believes he owes a thank you to Mousa Dembele, as the midfielder has played with injury lately.

Dembele has been struggled with a foot injury for a number of months, which has meant that he has found it difficult to complete 90 minutes.

The Belgian has been left out of Tottenham’s starting line-up on regular occasions lately.

And he is expected to miss out on playing for Spurs against Leicester City this evening.

Dembele is now set to see a specialist at the end of the season, to try and get to the bottom of his fitness issue.

And Pochettino admits that he is indebted to Dembele for playing through the pain barrier.

“He is OK but maybe not in his best condition to play 90 minutes, but he has been available to help the team in the last few weeks,” he said.

“I want to say thank you because he has been in a lot of pain but he has tried to help the team reach the FA Cup Final and finish second in the table.”

Tottenham take on Leicester this evening with the pressure off Pochettino’s side.

Spurs have now secured second spot in the Premier League table, meaning they are in a fairly relaxed position until the end of the campaign.
