The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been in excellent form this season.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s hugely important Champions League clash with Inter Milan tomorrow night, and praised Moussa Sissoko for his fine recent run of form, whilst suggesting that it was easy for people to blame the Frenchman when things weren’t going quite so well, as quoted by Football.London.

The 29-year-old joined Spurs from Newcastle United in the summer of 2016, for a fee believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £30 million, but he initially struggled to settle in north London.

His performances this term, however, have been a breath of fresh air, and Pochettino must feel like he has a brilliant new signing on his hands.

The Argentine spoke to reporters today, and responded when asked to deliver his assessment on Sissoko’s form for Tottenham this season, as quoted by Football.London:

“The problem is being patient with the player and again for different reasons, like I told you before in the past, we need to not only work hard to improve the player but also fight with the perception from the fans or media. It was easy to blame him. For different circumstances I am so happy with him. He has improved a lot since he signed here.”

Sissoko has made 11 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham this season, and the despite the fact that he is yet to score, he has still had a really positive influence on the way in which Pochettino’s side play.

His power, pace and energy in the middle of the park has been crucial to Spurs, and he offers Poch something that little bit different.

Tottenham fans, and Sissoko himself, will be thinking long may it continue.
