Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino is never completely happy with a Spurs performance, constantly demanding improvement.
Mauricio Pochettino has admitted to Football London that he is ‘always disappointed’ with how his Tottenham Hotspur team play.
Spurs just about kept their hopes of reaching the knockout phase of the Champions League alive last night as a late double from Harry Kane helped them to a 2-1 win over PSV Eindhoven at Wembley.
Kane cancelled out Luuk de Jong’s early header on 78 minutes, before the Tottenham hitman grabbed a last-gasp winner for Pochettino’s side.
The North Londoners rode their luck at times, and Pochettino conceded at full time that he is virtually never satisfied with how his team plays.
“I don’t know if you believe me or not, but what I am going to say is that always I am disappointed with the performance of the team,” said Pochettino to Football London when asked if he was happy with the display.
“Always I want more, and more and more. When you nearly play perfect you find something to say no and that we need to improve, improve.
“I think we need to improve but in the team [there are] many circumstances that sometimes make it difficult to improve.”
It’s a huge win for Tottenham, but bigger tests lie ahead.
Their final two group games come away to Barcelona and home to Inter Milan, who sit second in Group B and three points clear of the Lilywhites.
As for Pochettino, well he should be delighted in all honesty. This was Tottenham’s fourth game in the space of eight days, winning three of them. It’s a fine achievement and a reminder that their squad is exceptional, as far as depth goes.
