Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be a big fan of Barcelona’s Riqui Puig.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has kept his cards close to his chest when asked if Riqui Puig is on his transfer wishlist, after being asked by Football.London.

Tottenham have long been linked with Puig, who is considered to be one of the brightest talents in Barca’s academy.

Puig has been dubbed the ‘next Iniesta’ in The Sun, but he has struggled for regular game time at the Nou Camp.

And when Pochettino was asked if he wanted to sign Puig, the Argentine boss was very coy about his future plans.

He said: “I don’t like to talk about rumours. I don’t want to talk about youth players. It doesn’t benefit anyone.”

Tottenham have shown a willingness to buy younger players, so Puig could fit in with their usual type of signing.

The 19-year-old has broken through La Masia, but he may feel that he needs more frequent game time than Barca are offering him.

Pochettino’s Tottenham side are set to take on Puig’s Barcelona in the Champions League this evening.

Spurs are likely to need to win against the Catalan giants to progress from their group in the Champions League.
