The Tottenham Hotspur man has been overlooked by the Argentine in recent weeks.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Brighton and Hove Albion tomorrow, and responded to a question asking him if Toby Alderweireld will be involved against the Seagulls, as quoted by Football.London.
The 29-year-old has played a peripheral role for Spurs this season, and has made just two appearances for his club since suffering an injury whilst playing against Real Madrid in the Champions League in November.
Alderweireld’s lack of game-time over this past month or so has led to rumours linking him with an exit from Tottenham in the summer.

The Manchester Evening News claims that Manchester United are leading the race to sign the Belgium international, with a potential £50 million deal being mooted.
Whilst his future may lie away from north London, he could still have a vitally important role to play for his club this season.
Pochettino spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference today, and responded when asked whether Alderweireld will feature against the Seagulls, as quoted by Football.London:

“Yes Toby is going to be involved in the squad and then tomorrow I will decide if he is going to play or not.”
Pochettino has plenty of options in the central defensive department, and with Davinson Sanchez adapting to life in England so quickly and comfortably, the Argentine might just view the Belgian as replaceable come the end of the season.
