Tottenham Hotspur failed to strengthen in the summer.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s disappointing 2-1 defeat at Watford yesterday, and responded to reporters when asked whether he is happy with the strength in depth of his squad, as quoted by Football.London.

Spurs took the lead against the Hornets yesterday, only for Javi Gracia’s men to hit back, and Pochettino’s side will now head into the two-week international break absolutely seething that they could not see out the job at Vicarage Road.

The north London outfit failed to sign anyone during the summer transfer window, and despite three wins from their first three games, cracks already seem to be appearing.

Pochettino addressed the media after his side’s defeat to Watford, and responded when asked whether he is unhappy with his options on the bench, as quoted by Football.London:

“Look, I accept that because it’s the reality. I accept that. But the last three wins, when we won games, nobody asked me. Look, I accept that, but that is the reality that we have. We cannot change the reality?”

Poch was then pushed further on whether he believes that he doesn’t have enough options:

“No, no, no, I don’t say that. I’m never going to say that. We have good players in the squad. I think we have a strong squad. We showed against Newcastle and we showed against Fulham and at Old Trafford, but today, it’s not that we didn’t win because of the players on the bench or the squad, I don’t know eh? Ha ha, come on. The reality is we need to analyse who be in the pitch. Of course myself first I am responsible, the guilty one when the team loses.”

Next up for Tottenham is a real challenge against Jürgen Klopp’s rampant Liverpool side, and Pochettino’s men will have to be at their very best, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of beating the Reds.
