Wayne Rooney recently commented on the future of Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane.
Rooney, who can operate as a striker or as a midfielder, suggested that Kane could want to leave Tottenham in the next year or two if the North London club do not want trophies.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was asked for his response to the comments made by the former Manchester United and England international in a press conference earlier today.
Pochettino said in response, as quoted by Football.London: ”Look, last night I was in Watford watching the game live, I didn’t hear him.
“Remember a few weeks ago someone told me [Arsene] Wenger said something and it wasn’t true. I don’t know, I didn’t hear nothing, I can not give my opinion about that.
“I agree with what he said about Kane being one of the best strikers. Of course Harry wants to win titles, wants to score goals but I can not say nothing more about this.”
Fair response?
Pochettino’s response is fair enough. After all, if the Tottenham manager did not hear the comments, then he could not have responded to them properly.
However, it seems that the Spurs manager was annoyed with the question, which has been asked by many pundits before and will be asked again in the future.
True, not winning trophies or challenging for titles could affect Kane, but the England international is happy at Tottenham at the moment.
Kane is loved by the Tottenham fans, he is scoring goals for fun for the North London outfit, and he is the main man at the club.
