Tottenham Hotspur are set to lose the services of Heung-Min Son in January, in what will be a blow to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Mauricio Pochettino has reminded Tottenham Hotspur fans that Heung-Min Son is set to go away to the Asian Cup in a matter of weeks, with his comments in Football.London.

Son has been one of Tottenham’s most in-form players in recent weeks, with the striker netting six goals in his last five matches.

The Spurs front man looks to be back to his very best, but he is only available for another few weeks.

Son will jet off to represent South Korea in the middle of January, when he will miss five Tottenham matches.

And Pochettino said: “He’s amazing right now. Unbelievable. Sonny is doing a fantastic job for the team.

“After November he had a rest and he was here trying to recover his best and he’s doing fantastically. I hope he can keep that level but you know in a few weeks he will be away from Tottenham because he needs to be with his national team.”

Son’s departure comes at the worst possible time for Tottenham, as they have pushed themselves into title contention.

Pochettino’s side have been in magnificent form of late, and look to be playing right at the top of their game right now.

Tottenham are now ahead of Manchester City in the Premier League table, and have established themselves as title contenders.

But competing without Son only makes their task of keeping pace tougher, and Pochettino will hope the South Korean’s departure has no negative impact on his team.
