Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters yesterday, ahead of his side’s clash with Barcelona in the Champions League tonight, and raved about the quality of Kyle Walker-Peters, sharing how confident he is that the youngster will perform in the Camp Nou, as quoted by Football.London.

Kieran Tripper and Serge Aurier are both injured and unavailable for tonight’s clash, so Walker-Peters, 21, will be called upon to play in the right-back position.

It has been rumoured that Barcelona will field a weakened team tonight, considering the fact that they have already won the group, but whoever Ernesto Valverde plays, Spurs will still be in for an incredibly tough evening.

The Catalan giants will surely target the 21-year-old full-back, given the fact that he has such limited experience in playing at the highest level.

Pochettino told reporters, however, that he has an unwavering belief in Walker-Peters’ ability, as quoted by Football.London:

“I think Kyle Walker-Peters has the option to play, I want to remind you that 18 months ago he won the Under-20 World Cup in Korea and he quality is unbelievable. Young players always need the trust and need to play and to play in a difficult place like the Nou Camp will make him stronger than before. We don’t have doubts that he can perform.”

The right-back has made 11 senior appearances for Tottenham during his fledgling career, but tonight’s game will undoubtedly be the most pressurised situation that he has ever played in.

And whether he is up to the task remains to be seen.
