Tottenham did their Premier League title hopes no harm at all on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino has reflected on Tottenham Hotspur’s “perfect” win over Manchester City on Sunday, speaking to the club’s official website.

Spurs beat the Sky Blues 2-0 at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon with one of the best performances of the Premier League season so far.

Not only did it abruptly halt City’s six-match winning streak, in which Pep Guardiola’s side netted 18 times, but Tottenham also moved one point behind the league leaders.

Aleksandar Kolarov’s own goal put the Lilywhites ahead after nine minutes, before Dele Alli doubled the advantage shortly before the half-time whistle.

On 65 minutes, Erik Lamela saw a penalty saved by Claudio Bravo, but it did not affect the result as Tottenham held on to hugely enhance their title credentials.

Such was the quality of Spurs’ display, choosing just one Man of the Match was a task in itself, and Pochettino hit the nail on the head with his description of his side’s win to the club’s official website at full time.

He said: “The performance was perfect. I thought we started very well, scored and then managed the game.

“Okay, in the end we conceded some chances but if we’d scored the penalty, the game would have been over. We fully deserved the victory.”

Tottenham were Leicester City’s main title rivals toward the end of last season, before their bid fell short in the final weeks, but few would back against Pochettino and co to right the wrongs of last term, if this performance was anything to go by.
