Tottenham Hotspur beat Arsenal 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that he felt Paulo Gazzaniga was ‘fantastic’ against Arsenal on Wednesday night.
Spurs once again faced North London rivals Arsenal last night, heading back to the Emirates Stadium just weeks after losing 4-2 to the Gunners in the Premier League.
It was the Carabao Cup on this occasions, and Spurs served up a fine performance to claim a 2-0 win, with Son Heung-min racing away to score the opener in the first half.
Harry Kane then set up Alli to score an impudent lob over Petr Cech for number two, sealing a passage into the semi-finals for Pochettino’s men and a meeting with Chelsea.
Spurs are unbeaten since that defeat to Arsenal last month, and Pochettino was able to rotate some of his side last night and still claim the win.
Goalkeeper Gazzaniga came in for Hugo Lloris between the sticks, and was superb for Spurs, with a first-half save from Henrikh Mkhitaryan absolutely crucial.
After the game, Pochettino spoke about Gazzaniga, and described his performance with one key word, calling him ‘fantastic’.
“I thought our keeper was fantastic, Paulo,” said Pochettino, who must be delighted and almost surprised with how Gazzaniga has kicked on and improved this season.
