Tottenham Hotspur hammered Southampton 4-1 on Wednesday evening.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told the club’s official website that he felt Heung-min Son made a great impact as a substitute during the 4-1 win over Southampton on Wednesday evening.
Spurs made the trip to the South Coast to take on Claude Puel’s Saints at St. Mary’s Stadium, and got off to the worst possible start as Virgil van Dijk headed home James Ward-Prowse’s free kick inside 90 seconds to give Southampton the lead.

That was as good as it got for Southampton though, as Dele Alli headed Moussa Sissoko’s deflected cross into the net, before Harry Kane continued the run of headed goals by planting a superb header past Fraser Forster to put Spurs in front after half time.
Kane then missed a penalty after Alli had been fouled by Nathan Redmond, who was given his marching orders, but Spurs sealed the three points as substitute Son coolly finished when played through on goal, and Alli did the same to grab his second and Tottenham’s fourth.
The result keeps Spurs within touching distance of the Champions League places after all of the top six won their post-Christmas games, and manager Pochettino spoke to the club’s official website after the final whistle.

Pochettino noted that it was important for Alli and Kane to score, and hailed South Korean international Son for making a ‘great impact’ as a second half substitute.
“Yes, important for him, Harry as well and Son, a great impact from the bench,” said Kane. “There are a lot of positives, not only the three points but we feel very pleased with the performance.”
The 24-year-old has blown hot and cold this season, but his impressive 16 minute cameo against Southampton showed just what he can do, and he’ll be pushing for a place in Pochettino’s starting line-up to take on Watford this weekend.
Pochettino also praised the ‘fantastic’ Spurs fans who made the trip to St. Mary’s Stadium in great numbers, supporting their team on a cold winter night as Tottenham rounded off a superb 2016 with another victory.
“December 29th, Wednesday, 7.45pm is always difficult, but they were here and fantastic, as always,” he added.
