Tottenham Hotspur beat Fulham 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Mauricio Pochettino of Tottenham Hotspur looks on during the Premier League match between Fulham FC and Tottenham Hotspur at Craven Cottage on January 20, 2019 in London, United Kingdom.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that he was ‘very happy’ with Fernando Llorente’s display against Fulham.

Spurs made the short trip to West London to take on Fulham on Sunday afternoon in a crucial game, given that they were without both Harry Kane and Son Heung-min – two star attackers.

Pochettino’s side were dire in the first half and were lucky to only be 1-0 down, as triker Llorente – picked as the replacement for injured Kane – put the ball in his own net from a Jean Seri corner.

Spurs improved after the break and got their equaliser as Dele Alli headed home Christian Eriksen’s cross to bring Tottenham level, before Alli himself picked up a hamstring injury.

It looked like Spurs would have to make do with a point, but substitute Georges-Kevin Nkoudou whipped in a superb cross for Harry Winks to snatch an injury-time winner for Pochettino and co.

Tottenham will be pleased to have got out of Craven Cottage with all three points, and the attention now turns to Thursday’s Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea as Tottenham look to book their place in the final having won the first leg 1-0.

It’s unclear who will lead the attack, as Kane, Son and now Alli are all unavailable, and if we’re being brutally honest, Llorente struggled at Fulham.

Not only did he score the only goal, but he also missed a couple of golden chances that Kane would have buried, leaving many to feel that the Spaniard should be dropped even though there is a dearth of options.

Pochettino seemed happy though, praising Llorente for fighting hard, feeling that he was ‘a little bit unlucky’ in front of goal before noting that the veteran is now tired after playing 90 minutes, a potential nod to him being rested on Thursday.

“I am happy, very,” said Pochettino. “He fought over 90 minutes, he added to the team his characteristics and quality. He had a few chances to score, a little bit unlucky. I think he’s now a little bit tired after 90 minutes in the Premier League but that’s normal,” he added.
