Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele earned his side a penalty against Arsenal.
Mauricio Pochettino has told the London Evening Standard that he felt Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele was one of the best players in the North London derby.
Dembele stood out in midfield for Spurs, as they collected a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium earlier today.
The Belgian international highlighted his power and composure, as he helped Tottenham pick up an important point.
And Dembele’s performance was made all the more remarkable, as he was unable to train during the week, after he picked up an injury during Spurs’ Champions League defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday evening.
“Dembele is a genius,” Pochettino enthused. “He could play 20 only minutes against [Bayer] Leverkusen but today he was one of the best.”
Tottenham had fallen behind against Arsenal when Kevin Wimmer headed a set piece into his own net.
However, Dembele played a major role as Tottenham got back into the match.
The former Fulham man drove at the heart of Arsenal’s defence, and was eventually brought down in the box for a penalty, which Harry Kane converted.
Tottenham’s draw ensures that they have maintained their unbeaten record in the Premier League, with Pochetino’s side sitting in fifth place in the top flight standings.
