The Tottenham Hotspur star has been in superb form once again this season.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters after last night’s 1-0 win over Brighton, and raved about the quality of Christian Eriksen, labelling the Dane as ‘amazing’ and ‘unbelievable’, as quoted by Football.London.
The 27-year-old scored Spurs’ winner last night after 88 minutes, and it could end up being the goal that secures their place inside the top four come the end of the season.
Eriksen joined Tottenham from Ajax in the summer of 2013, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £12.5 million, and he has gone on to become a real star in north London, racking up 64 goals and 86 assists in 270 appearances in all competitions thus far.
Spurs fans will be worried about losing the Denmark international, however with just over one year remaining on his current contract.
For now, though, he is still very much a Tottenham player, and Pochettino raved about his quality when speaking to reporters after last night’s game, as quoted by Football.London:
“I think it’s about quality. He has an amazing quality, he can shoot from outside of the box and have unbelievable shots with his left and right foot. Of course it’s about mentality too but in the end if you don’t have the quality, then you can shoot ten times without the keeper for sure you’re not going to score but with Christian he can shoot and score.”
Next up for Tottenham is a home game against West Ham on Saturday, and Eriksen will once again have a key role to play, if his side are to rack up another vitally important three points on their ongoing quest to qualify for the Champions League next season.
