Mauricio Pochettino provides Tottenham Hotspur fitness update

Tottenham Hotspur already have a number of players sidelined, and Ben Davies has now picked up a knock.

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed to Football London that Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has picked up a small injury, but Moussa Sissoko is okay.

Sissoko hobbled off the pitch during Tottenham’s match with Chelsea after colliding with Serge Aurier in the second half.

But Pochettino has seemingly suggested that Sissoko will be fine, and the Spurs midfielder will not be sidelined.

“Sissoko is okay, tired I think,” he said. “A small thing for Ben Davies. The rest are okay.”

Sissoko avoiding injury is a positive to come out a disappointing game at Stamford Bridge for Tottenham.

Spurs’ squad has been decimated by injury, and the consequence of having key players sidelined was clear last night.

Tottenham were all at sea in the first-half at Stamford Bridge, as they slipped 2-0 behind.

Although Fernando Llorente did notch a second-half goal, which put Spurs level on aggregate, they could not progress after a penalty defeat.

And Pochettino will be hoping to have his key attacking players back sooner rather than later, as Tottenham can ill afford more injury problems.
