Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela has been ruled out with injury since way back in October.

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted to Football.London that Erik Lamela may not play for Tottenham Hotspur again this season.

Lamela picked up a groin injury back in October, and it has taken the Argentine far longer to recover than initially expected.

Spurs originally thought that Lamela would be ruled out for weeks rather than months with the problem.

However, almost half a year later, the 25-year-old has still not made his return to competitive action.

Lamela has been back in Tottenham training recently, but Pochettino has revealed that he is still playing through the pain barrier.

And the Spurs boss has admitted that Lamela’s season could be over.

“I don’t want to say one week, two weeks, one month,” Pochettino said.

“Maybe next season – assessing him every day.”

Lamela’s unavailability is a blow, as the former Roma winger adds creativity and drive to Spurs’ attacking ranks.

Even without Lamela, Tottenham have still impressed this season though, and they currently sit in second place in the Premier League table.

Tottenham are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Millwall in the FA Cup.
