The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder could face a few weeks on the sidelines.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Crystal Palace yesterday, and provided a concerning update on Harry Winks, after the midfielder was withdrawn from action at half-time, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.
Tottenham remained in third position in the Premier League table following their victory, and kept the gap between themselves and league leaders Manchester City to a manageable eight points.
The Lilywhites now face a two-week lay-off due to the international break, and the fortnight off has probably come at a good time for Pochettino’s side, with a few of the club’s key men picking up knocks in recent weeks.
One of those players to succumb to injury is Harry Winks, and Pochettino provided an update on the 21-year-old, after he twisted his ankle against the Eagles, as quoted by Football.London:
“He twisted his ankle in the first half. It’s a little bit painful now. We must assess him of course with our medical staff, with the national team staff as well. He’s so excited to meet up with England and sure that he’s going to meet them. Now it’s about the medical staff from both sides to assess the player and take a decision.”

The Spurs youngster will be heartbroken if he is ruled out of the two England friendly international, having spoken before about how much representing his country means to him.
Tottenham fans will be hoping that the injury isn’t too serious either, with Winks’ emergence as a key first-team player for the club this season.
