Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has praised his goalkeepers in an interview with Football.London – and even hailed Paulo Gazzaniga.

Spurs saw Hugo Lloris enjoy a superb display against Watford on Monday night, producing some fine saves whilst keeping a clean sheet in the 2-0 victory.

The French goalkeeper has come in for stern criticism of late after some notable errors, but proved his quality once again on Monday in a fine performance.

Paulo Gazzaniga of Tottenham Hotspur looks on during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium on November 5, 2017 in London, England.

Whilst replacing Lloris always looked unlikely, Spurs may still be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, given that backup Michel Vorm is out of contract.

The Dutchman has mostly been used in cup competitions, and was heavily criticised for his goalkeeping for Manchester United’s winner in their 2-1 victory over Spurs in the semi-finals of the FA Cup last month.

Vorm may well walk away this summer, and the man behind him is somewhat forgotten. Paulo Gazzaniga reunited with his former Southampton boss Pochettino in a cut-price deal last summer, with the Argentinian arriving as third choice.

Gazzaniga, 26, has only made one appearance all season, keeping a clean sheet in an impressive display in the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace back in November.

Now, Pochetino has told Football.London that he feels all of his goalkeepers are great, and even talked up a potentially great future for Gazzaniga, despite him becoming a forgotten man this season.

“First of all that Sterling tackle wasn’t a penalty. This was another great tackle,” said Pochetino. “I talk very well of him a lot, with us the keeper’s job is to be focused for 90 minutes, but to also help the team because our defensive line is higher.”

“We demand a lot from the keeper and we are so happy with all of them, I think we have great keepers. Hugo is one of the best, Michel can play in any team in the Premier League and Paulo is a potentially great, great keeper,” he added.
