Mauricio Pochettino has showered praise on Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Michel Vorm for his performance against Barnsley in the EFL Cup.
Tottenham progressed to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after beating the Championship outfit 1-0, thanks to the goal from Dele Alli.
The Argentine said in the press-conference that he is not prioritizing the domestic cup competitions, but fielded a strong team on Tuesday at Wembley.
Vorm joined Spurs in 2014 from Swansea City, and has mainly played second fiddle to club skipper Hugo Lloris.
The Netherland international is not a regular starter in the Premier League, but Pochettino usually uses him in cup games.
He is a very reliable goalkeeper who does the job brilliantly whenever he is called upon. The 33-year-old was brilliant against Barnsley as well.
Vorm made a fantastic save in the second half and kept the game alive, allowing Spurs the chance to win.
Pochettino said after the match that Vorm deserves a lot of praise for his performance, adding that it is important to “recognise his value” in the side.
“I want to congratulate Michel Vorm — he deserves a lot of praise,” said Pochettino after the match, as quoted by ESPN.
“His save at the start of the second half was fantastic and kept us alive and provided us with the chance to win. I think in the way he works it’s important to recognise his value and to congratulate him because his action was top.”
