The Tottenham Hotspur ace has been in fine form recently.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke exclusively to the club’s official website about Erik Lamel’s fine form this season, and suggested that the Argentine has matured as as a player, after initially struggling following his switch from Roma five years ago.

The 26-year-old joined Spurs from Roma in the summer of 2013, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £25.7 million, but the then 21-year-old found the jump up in intensity from Serie A to the Premier League an incredibly hard one to adjust to.

Lamela has chalked up an impressive eight goals and two assists in his last 14 outings for Tottenham in all competitions, and he has played a major part in Pochettino’s side’s success so far this term.

The Spurs boss spoke to the club’s official website, and praised Lamela, suggesting that he has evolved into a more mature mature player:

“Erik is more mature now. It was tough for him from the day he arrived here. It’s the start of his sixth season but now, after scoring eight goals in 14 games, I think everything is going well. I hope it continues and he is consistent during the whole season. Then we can talk at the end of the year and say Lamela had a fantastic season.”

Lamela is currently away on international duty with Argentina, and he will be hoping to maintain his fine form between now and the end of the season.

If he manages to do that, Tottenham will have every chance of ending their 10-year wait for a major trophy.
