Tottenham Hotspur beat Borussia Dortmund 3-1 on Wednesday night.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino and Harry Kane
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told the Daily Mail that he felt both Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were ‘fantastic’ against Borussia Dortmund.
Whilst Spurs went into Tuesday’s clash with Dortmund having beaten Everton 3-0 in a confidence-boosting win on Saturday afternoon, many were doubting their chances of beating Dortmund.
Tottenham’s struggles at Wembley had been well-documented heading into the game, having picked up just one point against Chelsea and Burnley this term, as well as losing to Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen at Wembley last season to scupper their Champions League hopes.

This time though, Tottenham got off to the perfect start at Wembley, beating Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in their opening game of this season’s Champions League group stage.
Son Heung-min got the scoring started, breaking away down the left before smashing home from a tight angle, only for Andriy Yarmolenko to equalise for Dortmund with a stunning long-range strike.
Tottenham reclaimed the lead when Harry Kane shrugged off one challenge on the halfway line and simply wouldn’t be stopped as he drove towards the area and scored, before he added his second after the break, collecting Christian Eriksen’s pass before driving a low shot into the net.

Tottenham’s strong performance and great result has given them the perfect start to the Champions League, and manager Pochettino hailed his goalscorers after the final whistle.
As quoted by the Daily Mail, Pochettino labelled both Kane and Son as ‘fantastic’ against Dortmund, but also praised his entire team for their aggression and work rate throughout against a difficult opponent.
“I think Harry was fantastic,” said Pochettino. “I think the performance of the team was good in terms of being aggressive, fighting and working, we were solid and we didn’t concede too many chances for Dortmund. I thought Harry and Son were fantastic,” he added.
