Harry Winks scored for Tottenham Hotspur against West Ham United in the Premier League at the weekend.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested to The Mirror that it will be hard for Harry Winks to maintain his place in the starting lineup.
Winks featured in Tottenham’s Premier League match against London rivals West Ham United at White Hart Lane at the weekend.
The 20-year-old midfielder started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes.
The youngster scored in the 51st minute of the encounter to help Spurs register a 3-2 victory.
Pochettino has praised Winks, but the Argentine boss has suggested that it will be difficult for the youngster to keep his place in the team.
“We have been working with Harry for a long time,” Pochettino told The Mirror about Winks. “You try to give the opportunities to the players when you feel that.
“There were many signs he gave us to say that, ‘I am ready, Gaffer. I am ready’. Now, it is up to him.
“It is very difficult to get in the first team. Now I think it is more, more difficult to keep your position in the first team.”
“It is true he needs to be happy now and enjoy the moment, but he needs to know that all that comes in the future will be difficult,” added Pochettino. “Because to keep that level is the most difficult thing.”
Winks is a very good and promising young midfielder, and the talented youngster is certainly going to work hard.
The England Under-21 international’s performance in the London derby against West Ham suggests that he has the quality to play in big matches for Tottenham.
The youngster should learn from the senior players in the team and do what Pochettino asks him to do.
Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 24 points from 12 matches.
