Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters after his side’s fine 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town today, and responded when asked whether Harry Winks will be fit for Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Manchester City, as quoted by Football.London.

The 23-year-old Spurs ace missed today’s clash with the Terriers after aggravating a previous injury during training yesterday, and Pochettino will surely be desperate to have the midfielder available for Wednesday night.

Tottenham have numerous injuries to contend with at the moment, with Harry Kane ruled out for the season, Dele Alli a major doubt for next week’s game and Serge Aurier, Eric Dier and Erik Lamela all having missed today’s game.

Spurs do have plenty of options in midfield, however, and after Victor Wanyama impressed today, he would surely be in line to replace Winks against City.

Pochettino insisted that he is optimistic that the 23-year-old will be ok for Wednesday’s game, however, as quoted by Football.London:

“It was the same as the past. He was training yesterday and in the middle of training he started to feel it. It’s a similar situation. We are optimistic.”

Tottenham face City again after their Champions League clash in the Premier League the following weekend, but whether Winks plays a part in either of those games remains to be seen.
