Tottenham Hotspur lost 1-0 at home to Bayer Leverkusen this evening.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been quoted by the club’s official Twitter account as saying that there is no excuse for his side’s performance against Bayer Leverkusen.
Spurs were in Champions League action this evening, and went into their clash with Bayer Leverkusen off the back of five games without a win in all competitions – and it’s now six.

Two weeks after facing Leverkusen in Germany – a game which ended in a 0-0 draw – Tottenham hosted the Bundesliga outfit at Wembley Stadium, with Spurs playing their European home games away from White Hart Lane.
After their first group game ended in a 2-1 home defeat to Monaco, fans wanted to see an improved performance this time around, but it was arguably worse as Kevin Kampl’s second half goal gave Leverkusen a 1-0 victory.

Tottenham were sluggish and off the pace throughout, with none of their players performing up to standard, and whilst Eric Dier did hit the crossbar late on, Spurs deserved to be on the losing end tonight.
After the game, manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke to the club’s official Twitter account about the result, and pulled no punches in his assessment of the performance.
Pochettino admitted that it was a ‘bad result’, and suggested that there was ‘no excuse’ for the display, with the pitch or their surroundings at Wembley not to blame for the defeat.
Pochettino added that the Tottenham players are very disappointed, and he must lift his players and work hard ahead of Sunday’s North London derby with Arsenal.
