Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that he thinks Slaven Bilic is doing a ‘very good job’ as West Ham United manager.

Spurs travel to the London Stadium for the first time on Friday evening for a crucial Premier League clash, as victory over West Ham United would cut the lead at the top of the table to just one point, behind league leaders Chelsea.

Whilst Mauricio Pochettino’s men are in scintillating form with nine straight Premier League wins, London rivals West Ham aren’t enjoying quite so much success this term.

After finishing in seventh place in the Premier League table last season, West Ham were expected to kick on under Slaven Bilic this term, but their season has been a major disappointment.

Summer signings such as Gokhan Tore and Simone Zaza proved to be major flops, the club haven’t adjusted to leaving Upton Park for the London Stadium, and star player Dimitri Payet forced his way out of the club in January.

Heading into Friday’s clash with Spurs, West Ham sit 15th in the Premier League table, and have won just one of the last ten games, piling the pressure on manager Bilic.

Sky Sports report that Bilic’s position will be reviewed this summer, with West Ham consdering alternatives – but Tottenham boss Pochettino has told Football.London that he thinks Bilic is doing a ‘great job’ and acknowledged just how difficult this season has been for the Croatian.

Pochettino added that he would like some advice from Bilic on moving to a new stadium, given that Spurs will be leaving White Hart Lane at the end of this season for Wembley, before moving into their own stadium.

“I don’t know. It’s so difficult and I don’t like to speak about rumours, and that is a massive rumour,” said Pochettino. “Only I can say that I have a very good relationship with him, he’s a great guy and great manager. Always it’s difficult when you move stadium to a new stadium, the Olympic Stadium, completely different. We start to see this at Wembley, what happens when we played. We must make Wembley our home and it’s so difficult. I think he is doing a very good job. He is a great manager, it will be good to see him tomorrow again.”

“Yes, it’s a great opportunity to listen to him, sure many questions will appear before or after game. Sure. Always it’s important to listen, to be open to learn. He maybe can advise us in different things,” he added.
