Mauricio Pochettino has told Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on Sky Sports, that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was the best player at the club during his time there.
Kane was controversially selected for the Champions League final which Tottenham lost 2-0 to Liverpool back in 2019, despite only just making it back from injury.
Kane took Lucas Moura’s place in Totteham’s team, despite the Brazilian scoring a hat-trick in the semi-final to seal Spurs’s progress.
The selection decision never really worked out, as Kane couldn’t find his best in the final.
But Pochettino insists that he would never change his decision on that day, as Kane was too talented a player to leave out.
“I think the decision, you can’t go back. But for sure if you put me in the same situation again I would take the same decision again,” Pochettino said.
“You cannot doubt Harry Kane. Maybe you can do some changes, but Harry Kane was our main striker.

“I think he was not only the best player in Tottenham, but maybe in England or Europe.
“When he is fit to play you can not have doubts.”
The trust that Pochettino has for Kane is understandable, as he turned into an incredible player under the Argentine boss.
Kane went from being a promising striker to being one of the most feared front-men in the world under Pochettino’s tutelage.
Kane’s role at Tottenham has now been slightly adapted since Pochettino left, with Jose Mourinho looking to bring out more of the England captain’s creative side.
But he has continued to score goals prolifically, and still sits near the top of the Premier League’s scoring charts this season.
