Michel Vorm is set to start in goal for Tottenham Hotspur against Liverpool this evening.
Mauricio Pochettino has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that Michel Vorm will start in goal for his side against Liverpool this evening.
Vorm has had to play second fiddle to Hugo Lloris for much of the season so far, but the Dutch stopper is expected to get the nod against the Reds later.
Vorm is generally utilised by Pochettino in domestic cup competition, and the Argentine boss intends to stick by the former Swansea City man later this evening.
“It’s important that all players believe they can play, it’s a good opportunity for some players that don’t play regularly like Michel Vorm to play and show that they have the quality and the capacity to compete to be selected consistently in the Premier League and the Champions League,” Pochettino said.
Pochettino is expected to rotate this Spurs team for their match at Anfield, with a number of fringe players likely to start.
Georges Kevin N’Koudou, Harry Winks and Kevin Wimmer could all be given an opportunity to impress tonight on Merseyside, with Pochettino set to rotate.
Tottenham’s fringe players hammered Gillingham in the last round of the competition, but tonight’s match against Liverpool is set to be a much tougher test of their quality.
The Reds are likely to name a fairly strong side in the competition, as they do not have an European commitments this season, and they head into the game in good form – having beaten West Bromwich Albion in their last outing.
