The striker has really struggled to establish himself in England since joining Tottenham Hotspur two years ago.

Tottenham have submitted their squad for the Premier League campaign up until January, and Mauricio Pochettino chose to name just 24 players, omitting Vincent Janssen from his list, according to the Premier League’s official website.

The Dutchman is currently suffering with a foot injury, but is expected to be back before the turn of the year, so the fact that Pochettino chose to name 24 players, rather than the maximum of 25, does not bode well for the striker.

Janssen joined Spurs from AZ Alkmaar in the summer fo 2016, for a fee believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £17 million, but he desperately failed to establish himself in north London, scoring just two Premier League goals.

He spent a loan spell away from Tottenham with Fenerbahce last season, but endured similar problems in Turkey, scoring just four times.

And following his omission from Pochetitno’s Premier League squad, he surely faces an uphill battle, if he is to salvage any semblance of a career with Spurs.
