Cameron Carter-Vickers has played once for Tottenham Hotspur’s senior squad so far this season.
Mauricio Pochettino has told ESPN that Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers confirms he’s ready for first-team football during every training session.
Carter-Vickers appears to have become Tottenham’s first reserve at centre-back, and he has moved ahead of Kevin Wimmer in the selection order.
There are concerns about whether Wimmer will remain at White Hart Lane, but Pochettino insists that the Austrian international is still in his plans.
“The level we have is very competitive,” Pochettino said. “Cameron shows in every session he is at the same level as others. Sometimes it’s Cameron, sometimes Kevin, sometimes Ben Davies, sometimes Trippier, sometimes [Kyle] Walker.
“He’s in my plans. If he’s not, I’ll tell him first and then you. I’m always honest, you know me very well.”
Carter-Vickers has featured just once for Spurs this term, against Gillingham in the EFL Cup.
However, the 18-year-old has regularly been included on Spurs’ substitutes’ bench and it appears likely that he will be given further chances throughout the campaign.
Carter-Vickers is one of a number of exciting Spurs youngsters who are starting to break into the first-team.
The American is coming through at the same time as the likes of Harry Winks and Marcus Edwards, and he seems to have a very bright future ahead of him at White Hart Lane.
