Tottenham Hotspur are set to take on West Ham United in the Carabao Cup later this evening.

Mauricio Pochettino has hinted to the Telegraph that Eric Dier will start for Tottenham Hotspur against West Ham United this evening.

Dier was selected to start for Spurs against Manchester City and he played for over an hour in the contest just two days’ ago.

Pochettino admits that he will make wholesale changes for the League Cup clash with West Ham this evening.

But his initial prediction is that Dier will be fit enough to feature again for Spurs at the London Stadium.

He said: “My feeling today is that it is going to be difficult to repeat some players, maybe [Eric] Dier who played 65 minutes, but I don’t believe too many players will be ready and fresh to play.”

Spurs went out of the League Cup against West Ham last season, and will be looking to protect against a similar story this time around.

However, the fixture list has not been kind to Tottenham, as this match is really set to stretch their squad.

Spurs took on City in the Premier League just 48 hours ago, leaving Pochettino with little choice but to rotate.

Tottenham could bring the likes of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen into their team this evening, as the pair were only used as late substitutes on Monday night.
