Tottenham Hotspur beat Southampton 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that he thins players need to realise they must use their character in different circumstances.
Spurs took on Southampton on Saturday afternoon, and were desperate for a result after disappointing showings against Olympiacos, Leicester City and Colchester United.
Tanguy Ndombele got Spurs off to a strong start against Southampton though, firing home Son Heung-min’s pass to open the scoring, but Spurs looked like shooting themselves in the foot once again.
Serge Aurier was sent off for two quick and ultimately stupid bookings, and Hugo Lloris gifted Danny Ings an equaliser by trying to dribble around him.
Tottenham could have folded, but came back strong as Harry Kane put Spurs back in front, and they then dug in to secure all three points in the second half.
Tottenham will hope that this result gets them back on track, and Pochettino has commented on the character of his team after Saturday’s result.

Pochettino admitted he isn’t surprised about the character of the team, but thinks his players need to realise that his players need to use their character in every game, often in different circumstances.
Whether that’s coming from behind or digging in to claim a win, Spurs need to show their resolve consistently, which Pochettino wants his players to understand.
“To be honest I am not surprised about the character of the team. We have the character,” said Pochettino. “Sometimes we need to realise that every time we compete we have to use this character in different circumstances. In some games we struggle to show that, but we have an amazing squad, and amazing players. A few months ago we played in the Champions League final, not because of luck, it was because we fully deserved to be there. We cannot have changed too much in a few months,” he added.
