Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has personally convinced Levi Colwill to stay at the club, according to a report.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea have convinced Levi Colwill to stay at the Blues and not leave in the summer transfer window.

The Italian journalist has claimed on Twitter that Colwill will now sign a new contract with Chelsea.

Romano has added that former Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino was instrumental in Colwill deciding to stay at Chelsea.

90Min reported in July that Liverpool want(ed) to sign the English central defender in the summer transfer window.

The Guardian has reported that Brighton and Hove Albion want to sign Colwill as well.

The 20-year-old England Under-21 international spent last season on loan at Brighton from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Levi Colwill could flourish under Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea

In our opinion, Chelsea defender Levi Colwill could flourish under head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

If Pochettino personally has told the defender to stay, then it indicates that the former Tottenham Hotspur head coach has a plan for him.

Colwill could become a regular in the Chelsea first team in the coming weeks and months.

Pochettino will have watched the defender’s performances for Brighton and Hove Albion.

And the Argentine boss will have been impressed.

It is now up to Colwill to step up his game and show what he is capable of.

When Colwill gets his chance at Chelsea, he simply has to take it and do his best.

Chelsea were truly terrible last season.

Pochettino will be determined to do better this time around.

Chelsea’s main objective next season will be to finish in the top four of the Premier League table.
