Mauricio Pochettino gutted with reaction to Tottenham Hotspur’s Paulo Gazzaniga

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga is still yet to lose a game when he has been picked by Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is really disappointed that he was criticised for signing Paulo Gazzaniga from Southampton.

Gazzinaga joined Tottenham in 2017, and initially there were question marks over whether he would improve their squad.

However, the Argentine has been in fine form this season, as he has moved up the pecking order at Tottenham.

Gazzaniga is clearly now Spurs’ first choice understudy to Hugo Lloris, and he is yet to be beaten when he has started for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Gazzaniga put in yet another excellent performance for Tottenham in midweek, as Spurs won 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal.

And Pochetttino said: “I think the case of when we sign Paulo Gazzinaga, the people criticise, oh he sign the third keeper.

“We sign Paulo one year ago from Southampton, and the perception was ‘oh, we cannot [present] the player because it looks like we don’t have ambition. If we present the player from Southampton, ‘oh the club don;’t have ambition’. It’s so… poor, no? It’s so bad.”

There are few doubts over Gazzaniga’s quality now, as he has been a major upgrade on Michel Vorm.

The giant goalkeeper has looked a commanding presence in Tottenham’s goal, and has proven to be superb back-up to Lloris since arriving.
