Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose has suggested that he no longer feels honoured to play at Wembley.
Rose stated earlier this week that he no longer felt honoured to play at Wembley with Tottenham.
The left-back claimed that it was no longer fun to play at the national stadium, after only 33,000 Spurs fans turned up in midweek for their side’s match against Southampton.
But Pochettino has offered a differing view to the left-back, as he still takes pleasure in managing his side at such a prestigious ground.
He said: “I’m not going to create a debate with him or other players, everyone is entitled to give their opinion. If you ask me, I am so, so happy to play at Wembley.
“For me it’s about enjoying every day, going down the North Circular I think it is, when I look at the arch I say ‘thank you’ because every game I play at Wembley is a gift.
“We take it like a gift, Jesus [Perez – his assistant] the same because we go together to Wembley. ‘One game more, how lucky we are’, we say.
“For me, it’s the best place in the world to play football. Of course after we’ll share that with our new stadium. They’re going to be the two best places to play, our new stadium White Hart Lane and Wembley. Personally for me it’s a gift to have the possibility to play at Wembley.
“Of course the disappointment of our fans and players I understand but for me I take it as very positive to play there.”
Tottenham are said to be hoping to complete their new ground early in 2019, to finally move away from Wembley.
Spurs had hoped to be in their new stadium by the start of the season, but the delay has caused frustration.
Even with the ground situation far from ideal, Tottenham have still performed well this season, with Pochettino’s side currently sat in third place in the Premier League table.
