Tottenham’s Eric Dier went flying through Sergio Ramos this week.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told Sky Sports that he was ‘very proud’ of Eric Dier’s challenge on Sergio Ramos on Monday night.
The international break has come to an end, and the attention is mostly turning to the return of the Premier League this weekend, with Tottenham taking on West Ham United.
Many of Tottenham’s players were in action for England over the international break, as Kieran Trippier, Eric Dier, Harry Winks and Harry Kane all started in the 3-2 win over Spain on Monday.
Kane impressed with two assists, whilst Harry Winks dazzled in midfield, but there has been plenty made of Dier’s thumping challenge on Sergio Ramos.
Early into the game, Dier broke from holding midfield position to go and close down Ramos, but went flying through the Spanish defender with a thumping tackle.
Many believe that Dier’s challenge set the tone for England’s display, and have praised him for putting in such a heavy challenge on one of Spain’s star players to let them know that England wouldn’t be walked all over.

Dier has received some criticism in recent times, but is now being praised ahead of his return to Premier League action, and he will be hoping to spark some good form after an impressive showing against Spain.
Now, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been asked whether he was proud of Dier’s challenge, and offered an enthusiastic five-word response of; “yes of course, very proud”, adding more belief to Dier’s game having made headlines for his full-blooded tackle.
