Marcus Edwards has joined Norwich City on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
Edwards has joined Championship club Norwich on loan from Premier League side Tottenham in the January transfer window.
The 19-year-old midfielder will remain at Carrow Road until the end of the season.
Tottenham manager Pochettino has explained why he decided to send the England Under-20 international midfielder out on loan to Norwich.
Pochettino told Football.London: “Marcus is a very talented player but now he is in a moment where he needs to move on to step up.
”An opportunity has arrived at a very good club like Norwich and I think you can see – they played against Chelsea and they played very good football.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for him to step up, move there and try – in three and a half months – to try to get more mature and to try to compete after spending maybe half his life in Tottenham’s academy.”
Edwards is a very young midfielder and is still very raw, and it made sense for Tottenham to send him out on loan to Norwich.
The Canaries are a good club and are still in the running for a playoff spot in the Championship.
Playing in an ambitious team and in a competitive domestic league is only going to help Edwards grow and develop as a footballer.
Edwards is still a few years away from establishing himself in the Tottenham first team.
