Tottenham Hotspur are set to take on Liverpool in the EFL Cup later this evening.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has suggested to the Herfordshire Mercury that he will make changes for his side’s match against Liverpool in the EFL Cup later this evening.
Pochettino complained this his team lacked ‘freshness’ in their last outing, which they drew 0-0 with Bournemouth.
And the Argentine boss now intends to rest a few of his key performers against Liverpool at Anfield later.

“Our idea is to win the [Liverpool] game, our idea is that we have a squad that deserve to play, all deserve to play,” Pochettino said. “It’s a different competition and like Gillingham who we play, sometimes we rest players that play a lot and avoid the risk of injury and also players who don’t feel so good, it’s about balance.
“It’s a good chance for some players to show that they can have the potential to play, or be consistent in the selection for starting 11, not only in the cup competitions but Premier League and Champions League as well.”
Tottenham are expected to hand a number of their promising youngsters a chance, while some of their fringe players should also come in.

Georges Kevin N’Koudou is expected to start his first game for Spurs, while Michel Vorm is likely to start in goal.
Harry Winks and Josh Onomah could also be handed rare starts for Tottenham, as Pochettino looks to aid their development.
In the last round of the EFL Cup, Spurs were comfortable winners, as they strolled past League One side Gillingham, but tonight’s match should be a much tougher test of their ability.
