Tottenham Hotspur are due to face Sunderland in Premier League action at the weekend.
Mauricio Pochettino has told the Hertfordshire Mercury that he intends to rotate his Tottenham Hotspur team around, ahead of their match against Sunderland at the weekend.
Tottenham have the added complication of having to compete in the Champions League alongside their domestic commitments this term.
Spurs played against Monaco on Wednesday night, meaning that their fitness will be tested with another match scheduled for Sunday.
And Pochettino is keen to guard against fatigue, suggesting that he will tinker with his line-up against Sunderland.
“It’s true that after Wednesday I am thinking about rotating the team a bit, the starting XI. We’ll see what happens tomorrow when we assess all the players and take the best decision for the team,” he said.
Spurs were short of their best against Monaco, and lost 2-1 at Wembley in midweek.
Pochettino was clearly furious at his side’s display, and publicly questioned his players’ passion after the match.
Tottenham remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season, though, and head into the match against Sunderland as heavy favourites.
If Spurs do beat David Moyes’ struggling side they could move up to second place in the table, providing other results go in their favour.
