Tottenham Hotspur moved back to within 10 points of the Premier League leaders with a convincing win over Southampton yesterday.
Spurs produced a fantastic performance during their 4-1 win away at Southampton last night, and Mauricio Pochettino insisted that his side thoroughly deserved their victory, whilst claiming that Nathan Redmond’s sending off played no part in the eventual outcome, as quoted by Sky Sports.
The Saints star received his marching orders after 57 minutes, when he brought down Dele Alli inside the box.

Harry Kane went on to miss the ensuing penalty, and the score remained at 2-1 to Spurs until the 85th minute, when the visitors finally wrapped up the points with two late goals.
And Pochettino discussed what was seen as a key turning point in the game, during his post-match press conference, insisting that Redmond’s red card had no bearing on the result, as quoted by Sky Sports:
“It was not a key action to change the game because in that moment, we dominated the game, we created a lot of chances. It was difficult to see from my position but we deserve more than Southampton. We played better, it’s a very fair result.”

Following their comfortable victory, Tottenham now sit just one point adrift of fourth placed Arsenal, and 10 points behind league leaders Chelsea.
The Blues travel to White Hart Lane on January 4th for a game that could prove to be decisive, as far as both teams’ Premier League title hopes are concerned.
