The Tottenham Hotspur boss could be re-opening the door for the Spaniard…
Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino has delivered another sympathetic analysis of Roberto Soldado’s plight in north London, according to the Daily Mirror.
Indeed, the Tottenham boss suggests luck has played its part in the 29-year-old’s failure to net regularly at White Hart Lane, while he also appears to have suggested he may get another first-team chance.
The Spurs boss told reporters: “I believe in the players and it is all in our head. You always need to get an opportunity to come back and recover your best level, why not.
“There are many reasons [why it has not worked out for him] and not only the culture. Always you have to be lucky and to arrive at the new club and develop your game. There is no one reason.”

| Roberto Soldado | 1 | 1 | 9 | 77 | 7 | 21 | 763 |
As Opta stats show, an embarrassing number of Tottenham stars have achieved more than Soldado in an embarrassingly high number of key categories.
In terms of goals, assists, chances created, headers and successful final-third passes, the Spaniard has been outshone by several of his team-mates.
Granted, Soldado has played far less minutes than many of them – but that is down to his form alone.
However, Pochettino’s latest quotes do sound sympathetic towards the 29-year-old and talk of always needing the ‘opportunity to come back’ could suggest a re-opening of the door.
There is no better time to give Soldado a chance than at the end of the season, with the top four realistically out of reach and there being little for Spurs to play for.
