Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told a press conference, quoted by Football London, that he expects right-back Kieran Trippier to face Everton on Saturday.

The 26-year-old pulled out of the England squad with injury this week in a move which plunged his participation at Goodison Park into doubt.

Tottenham completed a £23 million deadline-day deal to bring in Serge Aurier from Paris Saint-Germain as competition for the former Burnley man.

However, Pochettino has claimed that it would be “very tough” for the Ivory Coast defender to make his debut against Everton as a result of his international commitments this week.

If Trippier was not available then surely Kyle Walker-Peters would have been given the nod, though the 20-year-old has only one Premier League game under his belt.

The good news is that Trippier, according to Pochettino, is fit for selection and will be available for the trip to Merseyside this weekend.

Kieran Trippier of Spurs goes off injued during the pre-season match between Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus at Wembley Stadium on August 5, 2017 in London, England.

“Kieran is good. He has trained all week and I think he will be available for Saturday,” he told a press conference, quoted by Football London.

On Aurier’s chances, Pochettino added: “We need to assess him because he will arrive this afternoon, in a few hours and see how he is, because he played Tuesday and travelled today to France, Paris, and now he’s travelled from France to London.

“We need to see how he is. But you can imagine for him it will be very tough to play. For this afternoon, tomorrow to prepare for the game, it will be tough for him.

“Maybe will be in contention, maybe, we’ll see. We need to assess him today and tomorrow.”
