The Tottenham Hotspur boss admitted that there could be some players leaving the club next month.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke to reporters yesterday, and responded when asked whether their will be an incomings or outgoings at the club this January, as quoted by Football.London.
Spurs failed to sign a single player during the summer transfer window, so many of the club’s fans will be hoping that Daniel Levy backs Pochettino in the transfer market next month.
The Argentine seemed to hint that it is more likely that there will be outgoings rather than incomings at Tottenham in January, however, when speaking to reporters, as quoted by Football.London:
“Sometimes, players who maybe don’t play too much, they need to go and play in another [club] because maybe to keep players that don’t play in the first-half of the season, ok, you can manage but players that cannot manage to spend all the season not being important in the team. That is the moment to talk with players that are maybe disappointed because they don’t play too much, maybe the best decision is to send them on loan or to sell some players but that is about when the moment arrives to talk with different players.”
One prime candidate for an exit from Spurs surely must be Fernando Llorente.
It is clear that Pochettino doesn’t trust the Spaniard enough to start games, and he will surely be unhappy with his lack of regular first-team action.
There could also be some young players leaving Tottenham on loan, as Pochettino will surely be keen for them to gain experience of playing more regular football.
Tottenham fans will be desperate for the Argentine to bring in at least one major signing, but judging by the Tottenham manager’s comments, that doesn’t seem to be very likely.
