Chelsea are into the Carabao Cup final but Mauricio Pochettino took a moment to console Middlesbrough’s Tom Glover after working together at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Blues had to come up with a big display having lost the first leg of their semi-final clash against Boro earlier this month.
1-0 down from the first leg, Chelsea blew Boro away at Stamford Bridge and raced into a 4-0 lead by half-time.
Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke added gloss to the scoreline to make it 6-0 before Morgan Rogers pulled one back late on.
Chelsea head into the Carabao Cup final and will take on either Liverpool or Fulham at Wembley Stadium, giving Mauricio Pochettino a shot at silverware in his first season as Blues boss.
Mauricio Pochettino consoles former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Tom Glover
Boro fans flocked to West London as they were dreaming of another upset, but their evening turned into a nightmare.
This was a testing night for Boro and Pochettino was seen consoling one player from Michael Carrick’s side.
Pochettino went over to Middlesbrough goalkeeper Tom Glover after the final whistle, sharing a moment with the Australian stopper.
This wasn’t just Pochettino taking time to console an opposing player because he conceded six goals.
Pochettino actually knows Glover from his time at Tottenham Hotspur as Glover spent five years in the Spurs ranks.

Glover joined Tottenham in 2014, just like Pochettino, and the pair were pictured together when Glover signed a new contract in 2015.
Glover never made a first-team appearance for Spurs and spent time on loan at Central Coast Mariners and Helsingborg.
The 26-year-old quit Tottenham for Melbourne City in 2019, shining in four years back in Australia before joining Boro in 2023.
Pochettino clearly remembers Glover from Tottenham and took a moment to console him after a heavy semi-final defeat.
Glover will, of course, be gutted with last night’s result as he will have been dreaming of a Carabao Cup final appearance, but this was a nice touch from Pochettino and a callback to his Spurs days.
