Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen is set to miss 10 days’ worth action.
Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed to the Hampstead and Highgate newspaper that Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has had to had an injection in his ankle.
Janssen picked up an injury problem in Spurs training earlier this week, and he is now set to be out for around a fortnight.
The Dutch striker will miss Spurs’ upcoming games against Manchester United and Hull City.
And Pochettino said: “He (Janssen) got an injection in his ankle.
“He’s in a process to recover from his injury. We’ll see. In one week, 10 days, maybe in two weeks he can be available again.”
Even if he had been fit, it was unlikely that Janssen would have been in Tottenham’s starting line-up at Old Trafford.
The Dutch forward has struggled since moving to White Hart Lane last summer, and has not proven as prolific as Pochettino would have hoped.
Janssen has netted just one Premier League goal so far, and he has generally been used as a substitute.
With Harry Kane netting seven goals in his last six matches since returning from injury, there does not appear to be a place for another striker in Pochettino’s starting line-up.
If Tottenham can beat Manchester United on Sunday, they could climb above Manchester City and into the top four.
