Harry Kane is closing in on making his return for Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told the Daily Telegraph that Harry Kane will not start against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday evening.
Kane has half a chance of being involved for Spurs in their Champions League tie at Wembley in midweek.
However, if Kane is in Tottenham’s squad, he will be on the substitutes’ bench.
Pochettino said: “He is 50-50. Maybe on Monday he can be in the group. We will assess him and see if he is available to be selected, but he will not be involved in the starting 11.”
Kane has been out since damaging his ankle against Sunderland, meaning he has not played in Tottenham’s last nine matches.
Spurs have missed their main striker in his absence, as they have failed to replace his goals.
Vincent Janssen has continued to struggle since moving to White Hart Lane this summer, while Heung Min-Son has not maintained his goalscoring form.
Even though Kane is not expected to start against Leverkusen, he is predicted to make his full comeback in Tottenham’s match against Arsenal next weekend, which will be a major boost for Pochettino’s side.
