Mauricio Pochettino has responded when asked about reports that his PSG side are considering a move to sign Tottenham star Tanguy Ndombele. While “everything is open”, Pochettino refused to speak about Ndombele.

Ndombele, 25, last featured for Tottenham in a Premier League match on Boxing Day. In his last Spurs outing, the France international stormed down the tunnel against Morecambe – a decision that has been criticised.

Tottenham’s club-record signing has not hit the heights expected of him and while there was a sympathy from fans beforehand, that has seemingly dissipated. A move seems to be inevitable for the ex-Lyon midfielder.

Pochettino, of course, was in charge when Tottenham signed Ndombele in 2019. Now, he could reunite with Fabrizio Romano reporting talks are ongoing over a loan move. Pochettino responded when asked about him.

“I am not talking about players who are at other clubs. “PSG, like others I think, are always open to progressing and improving. “Everything is open, there is one week left in the transfer window,” Pochettino told Amazon.

Pochettino on Ndombele: PSG move suits Tottenham, and player

Realistically, a move will include a permanent clause in his loan deal. So, Tottenham might get a decent fee for the midfielder – whether that is what they paid for Ndombele, is unlikely.

Right now, Spurs want his entire loan paid and of course, PSG are more than financially capable of doing that. A loan fee would also give Spurs an immediate fee. For Ndombele, a return to France would boost him.

It might give Spurs a player they can rely on going forward, with a new-found confidence. It might get them some money back. But right now, it is a move that suits all involved.
