Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga has been in impressive form whenever called upon by Mauricio Pochettino.

Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that Tottenham Hotspur’s Paulo Gazzaniga can become a top player.

Gazzaniga started this season as Tottenham’s third choice goalkeeper, but he has arguably moved ahead of Michel Vorm in the selection order now.

Although the Argentine stopper is still very rarely picked, as Hugo Lloris is a mainstay when available, he has impressed whenever given a chance.

And Pochettino believes that Gazzaniga can develop into a star at Tottenham in the future.

“I think his progression was fantastic,” Pochettino said.

“Of course the credit is always for the players, but [we have] to give big credit to Toni Jiminez, the goalkeeping coach, who’s helping all the keepers to improve and grow. I think after one year and a half with us, I think his progression is fantastic and we were right when we signed him, because we believed and we knew him from Southampton.

“He’s still young for a keeper and has the potential to be top.”

Gazzaniga has made just four appearances in total for Tottenham, but he could feature this evening.

The 26-year-old has a chance of featuring for Spurs when they take on PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

Lloris is suspended for the fixture, after being sent off in Tottenham’s last European match.

Tottenham simply have to win this evening, if they are to have any chance of qualifying from their group.
