Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has under a year left on his current contract at Hotspur Way.

Vertonghen has been at Tottenham for the entire time that Mauricio Pochettino has been at the club, and his performances have made him a key player at Hotspur Way.
Vertonghen has under a year left on his contract at Spurs now though, which has caused some concern.
There are fears that the Belgian could now walk away on a free transfer at the end of the season, which would be a major blow to Tottenham’s defence.
Vertonghen suggested that he would be open to staying with Spurs, but no agreement has been made yet between club and player.
Tottenham did manage to sign Moussa Sissoko to a new deal in the week, and the hope is that Vertonghen could follow suit in the near future.
But when asked about Vertonghen’s future, Pochettino was not giving much away.
“I am open to everything. But that is like I said before about Moussa Sissoko. That is a deal between the club and him and his agent,” the Spurs boss said.

“We’ll see what happens because always there are two different parties in all the deals. I think, Jan, after five years that we are all together, this is the sixth season, and he was always an important part of my project and my decisions in football. That feeling is not going to change.”
Vertonghen actually started this season having to sit on the bench regularly at Tottenham, but he has proven his worth again in recent weeks.
Pochettino has re-instated Vertonghen back into his Spurs side, and the experienced defender has generally performed well.
Tottenham are in action later this evening, when they take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
