Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has suggested to Football.London that Oliver Skipp will be part of the squad against Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.

Spurs will take on Wolves away from home at the Molineux Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Skipp made his professional debut for Tottenham on Wednesday evening, as the 18-year-old midfielder featured against London rivals West Ham United in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Tottenham manager Pochettino has said that the talented and promising young midfielder will be part of the squad against Wolves.

The Argentine boss has also spoken highly of the 18-year-old English teenager.

Pochettino told Football.London: “Yes Oliver is going to be in the squad.”

“I am so happy,” added Pochettino. “He made his debut at West Ham on Wednesday. Like always with the young you have to be patient. They need to feel with the capacity to play with the first team.

“Then like always, they show every single day hunger, desire, passion about training, football and everything.

“Like always if they start to achieve important things it’s about keeping this hunger, desire, passion and prioritise football before other things and that will be a challenge. We are happy with how he has developed for the last four or five months.”

Progress

Skipp has been playing well for the Tottenham youth team, and the midfielder is indeed progressing nicely.

One, though, should not expect the youngster to establish himself in the Spurs starting lineup anytime soon.

The English youngster will have to be gradually introduced to the first team, and his playing time for the next one or two years will be limited.

What is important for Skipp is that he trains well and makes the most of the chances he gets for the Tottenham first team.
